“WHAT DO I WEAR IN BED? WHY CHANEL NO.5, OF COURSE”
Personal Project inspired by the famous words of Marilyn Monroe.
DRAGONFLY, HUMMINGBIRD, BUTTERFLY
The three pieces below were originally designed for a Jane Austen book cover project. They were then chosen to be in a National Exhibition in Dublin in 2009.
The mediums used for these drawings were coloured faber castell pencils and a black rapidograph pen for contrast.
OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!
Since the release of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, I have been absolutely fascinated with the red queen (played by Helena Bohnam Carter).
Based on the ‘Red Queen’ Theme, I illustrated a pair of plain shoes with textile markers and sharpies. The colours and images are based on playing card faces.
SNAKES AND LADDERS!!
Having thoroughly enjoyed illustrating the red queen shoes, I decided to experiment with a more street style shoe. The concept is a fun, hip version of snakes and ladders and I played around with the idea, having the mother and father snake on one shoe, and the baby snakes getting up to mischief on the shoe. I used the dice as a motif for both shoes.
SKETCH BOOK COVER DESIGN
I created this illustration last Christmas for Plant 48 Design as their client Christmas gift; a series of illustrated sketch books.
The illustration is a play on Plant 48, which is a packaging design studio.. the little minions are preparing packages on a little production line, and the background pipes in the plant are actually based on the map where the studio is located in Toronto! Theres all sorts of suggestions in the details which relate in someway to the studio.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
This Winter I spent a lot of time sorting through my old college and school projects in the attic. The images below I drew back in school when I was only dreaming of persuing art as a career. The Calvin Klein Ad illustration when I was drew when I was 18 is still one of my favourite pieces today.
